Down with Love. Feminist Critique and the New Ideologies of Work

Kathi Weeks will draw on the 1970s feminist critiques of love, romance, and feminine fulfillment to develop a critique of the popular mandate to »love your work« and the burgeoning literature on »happiness at work.«

Kathi Weeks is a Professor in the Program »Gender, Sexuality & Feminist Studies« at Duke University and author of »The Problem With Work« (Duke University Press, 2011) and »Constituting Feminist Subjects« (Cornell University Press, 1998).

This event is part of the Gender and Diversity Research Network’s lecture series, Work, Gender, and Social Reproduction. The event is organised in cooperation with the DFG Research Training Group »Cultures of Critique« and the Kunstraum.
